New year sparkle and working to your strengths

My word for 2021 is Sparkle. I’m setting the intention that we can all sparkle and be the best we can be as we navigate a pandemic and this chance to pause and review all that is happening in the world, how we work, and how we treat one another.

One of the ways we can sparkle is connecting with our energy and with what energises us. I’m a huge advocate for developing an awareness of your strengths to assist with this. When we are aware of what energises us, excites us and helps us perform in the best way we thrive.

I’ve just redone my strengths assessment with my realised strengths being self-awareness, mission, resilience, legacy, incubator, personal responsibility and writer. I love the yearly review as I can see how I have grown. This year there are a few changes from 12 months ago, but a few still have remained the same – self-awareness is number one three years in a row now. I can see them in full swing already as I set my year intentions and carry out a Marie Kondo approach to my diary, projects, writing, and relationships (hello simplier, flow and joy).

You’ll be guided to either login if you have completed one before or create a new account if you are new, and then you will enter the assessment platform. Remember to be in a calm location and as zen as you can be as you tune into your performance, energy and use of strengths.

It doesn’t matter if you already have a Profile, you can pop in and complete a new one (usually at about the 12 month point, or if there has been a significant life changing experience for you, we completed another assessment), as the beginning of the year is a great time to retake the assessment and reconnect with your unique strengths.

Knowing your strengths can help you:

  • Learn faster when you concentrate on expanding your strengths rather than improving your weaknesses.

  • Feel more confident as you align to ways of working that allow you to shine.

  • Achieve your goals.

  • See other perspectives and ways of working as you utilise your realised and your unrealised strengths and decide which ones you could use more to support you with challenges or simplify ways of working or interacting with others.

  • Move forward with challenges, especially when we pair two or more together to provide you with new opportunities or possibilities.

  • Feel more balanced as you navigate the ‘should do’ lists to the ‘must do for me’ list as it energises you more.

  • Approach your self-care daily routines so you feel more aligned.
