Mindful walking as one daily act of self-care

Meditation54321

Every day I go for a walk. I walk to feel the fresh air on my skin, to smell nature and to notice beautiful things around me. I also walk to pause. To pause, stop, refresh and renew.

On my walk I’ve been noticing new things, and I’ve been sharing these on social media as a way to share my pause. To inspire a pause for someone else. To share a mindful moment. To inspire reframing. And to ignite possibly as opportunity in the everyday.

This is an act of daily self-care. An act of being in the moment and noticing what is around me during a time that is extra dynamic, full of change and unknowns, and revealing who we want to be, how we want to be and what is important to us. This is a time to be grounded.

As I walk I photograph what I see. I love this form of art making, it is a hobby, and on my walks I am curious as to how the landscape changes, what I see, and the wildlife I meet. Post walk I share these. As a little gift of nature that pops up into others social media streams. And I pair these with a guided mediation, an informal act of mindfulness, to offer a moment of pause, inspiration and reflection to others. I write these guided meditations after I return from my walk based on the familiar informal mindfulness practice that supports the scaffolding of noticing and being in the moment:

5 things you see
4 things you hear
3 things you feel
2 things you smell
1 thing you taste

I have collated some of these guided meditations in an online gallery here or you can engage each day on Instagram or Twitter through the hashtag #meditation54321 , you may like to engage with these as part of your daily self-care toolbox of resources.

Enjoy the exploration.
